New Xylem Learning Center to open in Italy

Xylem offers comprehensive product training experience at new education and training facility

Tuesday, May 31, 2016 — Xylem, a leading global water technology provider, is continuing its legacy of providing world-class training and education to employees, customers and partners with the opening of the Xylem Learning Center (XLC), located in Montecchio Maggiore, Italy. Originally built in early 2000, the XLC has educated thousands of employees and water industry professionals in the latest advancements in commercial building services, industrial, residential and agricultural applications.

Scheduled to be unveiled on June 30, 2016, the renovated XLC will provide both hands-on practical training and seminar-style courses in updated classrooms for up to 70 students. It features interactive, working demonstration units of pumping equipment and controls, and a cutting-edge interactive classroom for attendees to install and troubleshoot numerous pumps and controls, all supported by a state of the art audio/visual equipment.

“Training and education have always been integral to Xylem’s offering and are essential for industry advancement,” said Giovanni Mugnolo, Technical Training Manager EMEA, Xylem. “When it comes to best-in-class industry education, we continue to raise the bar on ourselves. The XLC takes training beyond a standard classroom experience to one that’s interactive, engaging and focused on the latest technologies.”

The XLC offers several classes that address various applications, including Food and Beverage, HVAC, Water Systems, Drives, Wastewater and Residential / Commercial / Industrial. Each course covers Xylem’s comprehensive product portfolio and related systems, and is available for employees, consultants, engineers, installers, distributors, dealers and OEMs.  Full-time instructors and Xylem product managers instruct participants about product applications, markets, troubleshooting and system components. Educational sessions will provide attendees with extensive and direct experience with actual installations, including optional dedicated site visits for a glimpse into real-world mechanical rooms equipped with Xylem system solutions.

In addition, the XLC participants have the opportunity to visit and learn more about Xylem EMEA manufacturing facilities in five countries: Montecchio Maggiore, Italy; Hoddesdon, UK; Cegléd, Hungary; Strzelin, Poland; and Stockerau, Austria. During these tours, visitors can see the different steps in Xylem’s lean manufacturing processes that keep delivery time and waste low, starting with the raw material through to shipment of the final product.

For those who cannot attend in person, XLC e-learning format courses will be launched at the end of March 2016 to give professionals the flexibility to attend virtual training seminars on a variety of topics from a convenient location. The courses will be divided into 15 modules, including pump basics, curves and selection; parallel and series pumps; and piping systems.
